Nosgoth was a a 5v5 assymetric multiplayer game where one side played as vampires and the other as humans. You choose a character from six or seven that have unique abilities and weapons and you either fight to the death or flashpoint where you capture points to win. The servers were sadly shut down on May 31, 2016 due to failure to gain a "sustainable audience".

The game took place in the same world as the Legacy of Kain series, a brutal take on a vampiric and human society which I also played when I was younger. That's probably why I took a liking to this game as much as I did, because it was nostalgia nested within nostalgia. I played Nosgoth back in closed beta and got some of my friends to play which we played for a good bit.

The humans being more ranged-centric while the vampires more melee-oriented made a good dynamic of strong close-range fighters and brittle but powerful ranged fighters. The classes were extremely unique, with the vampires having a winged beast who could pick people up and drop them to their deaths and the humans having an alchemist who used a grenade launcher and could create walls of fire to keep the vampires at bay.

I'm pretty sure I continued playing this game until the inevitable news that the servers would be shut down. Even now, other like-minded individuals around the internet such as myself still launch the game every once and a while even though we know that nothing will change. It really was disappointing, sad even, and I hope that one day, someone will revive this dead game because it really was an interesting take on multiplayer.
