League of Legends is a purely multiplayer game where you and four other people choose a "champion" from a roster of over 130 different characters and you fight against an enemy team. The goal of the game is to breach the enemy team's base and destroy their nexus, the heart of their base. You start out in lanes separate from each other with one person usually going around and helping, but it descends into chaos where everyone is fighting each other in every nook and cranny of the map.

I got into League of Legends back in Sophomore year of high school, when my brother sent me his old computer with the game installed on it, I played it here and there before that but I was never serious about it. This changed when I got my first PC though, and I played it quite a bit for a couple years. After a while, I slowed down, somewhat because I didn't like the direction the game was going, and somewhat because I just had other games that I wanted to play.

The game doesn't really have much in the way of progression, besides unlocking more champions, and receiving skins for them, emotes you can spam in-game, and other cosmetic things. However that doesn't stop me from enjoying the game, especially with friends. People complain the the community is angry and toxic all the time, just a term for not being enjoyable to be around. This is definitely true some of the time, but after coming back after my long hiatus I have found that it was not as toxic as when I left.

League of Legends is definitely not everyone's game, the camera angle and the gameplay is extremely micro-intensive. It's also not the easiest to get the hang of because of the sheer amount of champions and items you buy in game that you have to learn who and what does what. If you can get past all those hurdles though, the game does become fun, and depending on who you are, competitive even. League is probably the most popular e-sports game there is, where professionals compete for both a title and a monetary reward.
