The Last of Us starts before all Hell breaks loose from an unknown virus. You play as Joel, a single father taking care of your daughter. After several explosions and people who succumbed to the virus rock your small city town you try to make it out with your daughter but get stopped by a soldier who receives a radio call to kill all survivors. As a result, your daughter is fatally shot. while Joel was trying to protect her.

After those tragic events, it fast forwards 20 years where humanity lives in fear of this virus that was called the "Cordyceps Brain Infection". Joel works as a smuggler with his partner, Tess, in one of the quarantine zones in Massachusetts, the few "safe" places in the country. After other events unfold with a rebel group called the Fireflies, Joel is thrust into an adventure bringing a girl who could be immune to the virus to doctors who might be able to reverse engineer a vaccine.

The Last of Us has an insane story that keeps you on the edge of your seat most of the time. This is partnered with fun combat and several different upgrade paths for your weapons and other personal skills. Using the right weapon such as your revolver, bow, shotgun, and a flamethrower late into the game is essential to being effective in combat. Especially when playing on the harder difficulties, stealth is your best friend because enemies are extremely dangerous. There are some levels where it would be smart just to sneak past and not even try to take out an enemy.

This game is one of those that I will never forget, mainly for it's superb story but also because the gameplay was pretty fun and it never felt repetitve to me. I was actually thinking of playing it again recently on the hardest difficulty since that would be a true test of my patience and skill. If The Last of Us wasn't restricted to PS4 I would have played it on my computer many times.
