Deep Rock Galactic is quite a unique game, with its only story being you play as dwarves sent to mine on an alien planet. However, story doesn't always make the game, and this is definitely the case here. The gameplay makes up for the lack in story with the insanity that can ensue during any mission. The maps are procedurally generated caves, which means the cave layout is random each time you play. Combine that with the fact the enemies can spawn literally anywhere in the cave makes having eyes on every side of your head a boon.

Deep Rock Galactic is more team-oriented than other cooperative games I play. I say this because there are four characters to play that each have their own way of helping the team. The driller is what his name suggests; he has two enormous drills that can drill through almost any terrain, allowing a quick escape from a dangerous area, or making pathways between cave systems. The gunner has the heaviest firepower in the game making him a prime candidate for alien killing, along with his zipline that can have the other less mobile dwarves cross large chasms with ease. The engineer can build turrets to assist in clearing out the hordes of aliens that come for you, and can also use his platform gun to make staircases, safe spots, or ledges to grab onto to get resources that are too high. Lastly, the scout is equipped with a grappling hook and a flaregun, allowing him to get up to high places and use his flaregun to light up the entirety of a cave instantly.

Each of these characters have to be played in conjunction with each other to make the mission as successful as possible. If you were to play on the harder difficulties, teamwork is paramount because things can go South in literal seconds. On top of the characters are perks you can equip that let you revive someone instantly, befriend one of the aliens to have them fight for you, with those being only two examples out of a dozen. There are also weapon upgrades and overclocks which change the way your weapon behaves, with the type of overclock changing the severity of the weapon's changes.

Deep Rock Galactic is one of those cooperative games that you can enjoy no matter what day it is. Its graphics are stylised, meaning the cartoonish look of it will age extremely well and will look good even in twenty years. Just grab a couple of your friends and play some missions and you'll see how much fun this game can be, with it being fun even if you play by yourself.
